OpenAI and Oracle entered a significant contract to develop a 4.5 GW data center capacity in the US. The collaboration also includes the deployment of Nvidia GB200 chips, enhancing computational power for training large-scale AI models. The stargate data center project will be located in Abilene, Texas, with further plans to expand it to other states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Wyoming, New Mexico, Georgia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

This project will bring the total Stargate infrastructure to 5 GW, supporting over 2 million AI chips. The estimated cost of this project is around USD 100 billion.

On 24th September 2025, Open AI, Orcale and Softbank have announced five new U.S. AI data center sites under their Stargate infrastructure platform bringing the total capacity to 7 GW and investment to USD 400 billion. The expansion includes new sites in Texas, New Mexico, Ohio, and a Midwest location, in addition it also includes additional 600 MW near Abilene.

In March 2026, Oracle Corporation said reports of problems at its Stargate AI data center in Abilene are false, confirming the project with Crusoe Energy Systems is progressing as planned with two buildings already operational. The company also secured leasing for an additional 4.5 GW to support its infrastructure commitments to OpenAI.
