Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation has partnered with Accelerated Infrastructure Capital and VietinBank to develop an AI data center complex in Ho Chi Minh City with an investment of USD 2 billion.

200 MW Hyperscale Campus Designed for 100,000 GPUs

The planned 200 MW IT load-capacity SGI-HCM hyperscale data center campus, located in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, can support up to 100,000 GPUs. The 10-hectare facility will comply with international standards for energy efficiency, information security, and sustainability in Vietnam.

 

Both partners make key contributions to this development, with KBC bringing expertise in industrial parks and infrastructure development and AIC contributing their global experience in data center development and operations.

 

The project will receive support for project finance, advisory services, and capital mobilization from its financial partner, Vietin Bank. The initial phase of development and later expansion will respond to demand, with plans to develop similar data center projects in various locations in Vietnam.

Viettel Group started the construction of this hyperscale data center at Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park in Ho Chi Minh City and is expected to be one of the top 10 largest data centers in Southeast Asia. The total capacity is up to 140 MW, and 10,000 racks built over 4 hectares make this facility the first hyperscale data center in Vietnam to exceed 100 MW of IT load.

 

The average rack density of 10 kW/rack is higher than the current average in Vietnam, with the potential to reach 60 kW per rack. The facility is designed to meet Uptime Tier III standards for reliability and performance.

 

Viettel will use advanced cooling technologies and AI-powered management systems for the data center and expects to achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of below 1.4.

As a part of its broader plan, Viettel’s digital infrastructure ecosystem includes data centers, 5G networks, cloud computing, IoT, and cybersecurity solutions. STT VNG Ho Chi Minh City 2 is designed with an IT load of 60 MW and will benefit from access to substations, telecommunications networks, and transportation and logistics infrastructure. Additionally, the data center is closer to business and industrial hubs, with connectivity to other provinces via the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Outer Zone Expressway.

 

All of the above developments are part of a joint venture between STT GDC and VNG Corporation, which includes the operation of STT VNG Ho Chi Minh City 1 and the construction of STT VNG Ho Chi Minh City 2.
