Viettel Allocates $1 Billion for Data Center and R&D Center Projects
Vietnamese state-owned multinational conglomerate Viettel Group has started two major national projects with a combined investment of approximately USD 1 billion. The projects include the An Khanh Data Center and the Viettel Research & Development Center, marking significant infrastructure developments for the company.
An Khanh Data Center Development
The An Khanh Data Center, based in Hanoi, represents one of Vietnam's two largest hyperscale data centers. In April, Viettel broke ground on its largest data center project, which has a total capacity of up to 140MW and approximately 10,000 racks, spanning a land area of 4 hectares. Viettel has ambitious expansion plans for its data center operations, targeting the construction of 24 data centers by 2030 with a combined total capacity of 560MW.
The company currently operates 14 facilities distributed across Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Duong. Additionally, Viettel is building 11 more data centers, which are expected to handle 40% of the nation's demand.
Strategic R&D Center Initiative
The Viettel Research & Development Center is located in Hoa Lac and is positioned as a strategic R&D hub. The center is designed to lead the Vietnamese high-tech defense industry complex, representing a significant investment in the country's technological capabilities and defense sector development.
