Infrastructure and Technical Features
The facility features an on-site 110 kV GIS substation with dual power feeds from separate substations, connected through underground cables for improved reliability and weather-resistant operation. The data center utilizes UPS systems and features a sophisticated setup, including centrifugal water-cooled chillers and adiabatic cooling towers.
Techno Digital President Amit Agrawal stated that today's digital-native enterprises demand hyper-availability, seamless scalability, robust security, and operational resilience as they advance their sustainability goals. He expressed confidence that the strategically located facility on India's southern coast in Chennai, further augmented by their network of interconnected Edge data centres, is well-positioned to shape the country's digital infrastructure with sustainable, AI-driven, and cloud-optimized offerings.
Company Expansion Plans
In May 2025, TEECL launched its digital infrastructure arm Techno Digital, backed by a USD 1 billion investment aimed at establishing a cumulative capacity of 250 MW in hyperscale and edge data centres across India. Beyond the Chennai facility, hyperscale data center sites are also being planned in Kolkata and Noida as part of this expansion strategy.
The Chennai data centre represents a significant milestone in Techno Digital's national infrastructure development plan, positioning the company to serve the growing demand for AI-ready digital infrastructure in India's technology sector.
