CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the project as part of Meta's multi-billion-dollar investment in artificial intelligence, positioning Ohio at the center of the company's future compute expansion.

Meta first broke ground in New Albany in 2017 and has already invested more than USD 1.5 billion in Ohio. The campus supports over 300 operational jobs and employs around 1,200 skilled workers during peak construction. 

To secure long-term power supplies for Prometheus, Meta signed major agreements with Vistra, Oklo, and TerraPower in early 2026. These deals provide access to more than 4 GW of future electricity capacity, including nuclear energy from facilities in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Cologix Johnstown AI Campus

Cologix is developing one of the largest data center campuses in Ohio with a multi-building AI and hyperscale complex in Johnstown. Vantage Data Centers OH2 Millersport Campus

Vantage Data Centers is developing one of the largest upcoming data center projects in Ohio through its new OH2 campus in Millersport, about 28 miles southwest of Columbus. The project marks a major expansion of Ohio's growing digital infrastructure corridor and is designed to support hyperscale cloud, AI, and high-density enterprise workloads.

Located near the intersection of State Route 204 and State Route 37 in Fairfield County, the campus spans approximately 500 acres and will be built in multiple phases. Vantage plans to construct up to five single-story facilities, each ranging from 120 MW to 250 MW. At full build-out, the campus could deliver around 800 MW of IT capacity, making it one of the largest planned data center developments in the Midwest.

Construction is expected to begin before the end of 2026, with the first facility scheduled to enter service in 2027. The project will complement Vantage's existing New Albany campus, which currently provides 192 MW of capacity.

The carrier-neutral campus will offer multiple fiber entry points and connections to major Midwest and East Coast network routes. It will support wholesale colocation, private cloud interconnection, and large-scale AI data center and HPC deployments. Security and operational standards will align with Vantage's global portfolio, including compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, and PCI DSS frameworks.

Amazon Web Services Fayette County Campus

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is developing one of the largest data center projects in Ohio through a multi-phase campus in Jefferson Township near Jeffersonville, Fayette County. Backed by a planned investment of USD 5 billion, the project will occupy nearly 590 acres and is expected to become one of Amazon's largest cloud infrastructure hubs in the Midwest.

Amazon Data Services acquired approximately 590 acres in December 2024 for more than USD 102 million. The site is bounded by Interstate 71 to the north and includes land around Milledgeville-Jeffersonville Road and State Route 729.  Data center construction is underway, and the first phase is scheduled to enter service in September 2026.

The campus will initially deliver around 65 MW of capacity before ramping up rapidly to 480 MW within its first year of operations. Amazon plans to continue expanding the site through multiple phases, targeting approximately 1,500 MW of capacity by 2031. This would place the development among the largest planned data center campuses in the United States.

To support the project, AES Ohio is building a dedicated 345 kV transmission connection known as the Fayette Customer West project. The new power infrastructure will provide the long-term capacity required for Amazon's cloud and AI workloads.

QTS New Albany Campus

QTS Data Centers, a Blackstone portfolio company, is building one of the largest hyperscale data center developments in Ohio through its multi-phase New Albany campus. Backed by more than USD 1.5 billion in investment, the project is designed to support AI, cloud, and high-density computing workloads and will eventually deliver more than 220 MW of critical IT capacity.

The campus spans multiple sites across Beech Road and Babbitt Road in New Albany, part of the rapidly growing Columbus data center market. QTS plans four facilities across more than 400 acres, creating a large-scale platform for hyperscale customers and cloud providers.

New Albany 1 (NAL1), located at 1235 and 1225 Beech Road SW, serves as the first phase of the development. The two-building campus offers 144 MW of capacity across approximately 885,600 square feet and is fully operational. New Albany 2 (NAL2), located on a nearby 37-acre site at 675 and 785 Beech Road SW, will add another 78 MW across two buildings. Construction is ongoing, with phased deliveries expected from 2026.

Future phases, including New Albany 3 near Babbitt Road and New Albany 4 on Miller Road NW, are part of the broader master plan that will expand the campus beyond 220 MW. Site preparation and shell construction are underway for additional capacity.
