Project Overview
P-80 is a Floating Production, Storage & Offloading (FPSO) vessel in the Búzios field. Petrobras says it will be the largest oil production unit to operate in Brazil by capacity, at up to 225,000 bbl/d of oil and 12 million m³/d of gas processing, with about 250,000 bbl/d of water injection.
Petrobras organized the vessel under its P-Series programme, where turnkey contractors build a standardised design in series. Keppel Shipyard won the international tender in 2022 with a contract worth about USD 2.9 billion.
After Sembcorp Marine acquired Keppel O&M, Seatrium now runs the project and manages six Petrobras FPSOs at once. The work was distributed across yards and engineering centres in Singapore, China, and Brazil: those countries fabricated the topside modules, CIMC Raffles built the hull and accommodation, and Seatrium’s Tuas yard in Singapore handled integration and commissioning.
Keppel P80 Project Location
The Keppel P-80 FPSO is destined for the Búzios oil field in Brazil’s pre-salt Santos Basin, offshore Rio de Janeiro. The field lies about 200 km from the coast, and P-80 is planned for installation in approximately 2,100 metres of water. Petrobras identifies it as the ninth production unit assigned to the Búzios field.
Project Background
Búzios was discovered in 2010 and started production in 2018. Petrobras plans to bring the field to about 2 million boe/d by the end of the decade, and says it has already passed 1.2 million bbl/d of oil.
Petrobras signed the P-80 contract with Keppel Shipyard on 15 August 2022. It was the second Búzios FPSO built by Keppel O&M for Petrobras, after P-78, and production was scheduled for 2026.
Sembcorp Marine completed its acquisition of Keppel O&M on 28 February 2023, creating Seatrium. P-78 was the first turnkey P-Series unit and sailed away in 2025. P-80 and P-82 are the second and third turnkey P-Series units from Seatrium and are its 47th and 48th projects for Petrobras.
Keppel P-80 Current Status
Currently, the Keppel P-80 FPSO has completed construction and integration at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore and has departed for Brazil. It left Seatrium's Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore on 30 September 2026 for the Búzios field.
It is the first of Petrobras's six large platforms in the current series to leave a shipyard. Offshore installation and commissioning remain. Production was originally planned for 2026; Petrobras now guides to 2027.

Conclusion
The Keppel-built P-80 FPSO is a landmark project for Petrobras’ Búzios field. Awarded to Keppel Shipyard in August 2022 under an approximately USD 2.9 billion EPC contract, it represents one of the largest floating production units in Brazil.
With capacity to produce 225,000 barrels of oil per day and process up to 12 million cubic metres of gas per day, it is the ninth FPSO planned for the Búzios field and the 28th pre-salt production system in Brazil.
The P-80 incorporates carbon capture and reinjection, energy-recovery systems, waste-heat utilisation, and seawater deaeration to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
