ENGIE has announced that two major solar projects in India are now fully operational, adding a combined 450 MW of capacity to the company's portfolio.

Khaba and Khavda Projects Commissioned in India

The 250 MW Khaba project in Rajasthan and the 200 MW Khavda project in Gujarat have both been commissioned, according to a press release published by the company on October 29, 2026.

The company said the two projects demonstrate the Group's ability to develop and deliver large-scale renewable assets in a rapidly evolving energy market and further strengthen its renewable footprint in the country.

Khaba Project in Rajasthan

The 250 MW Khaba solar project is located in Barmer, Rajasthan, and was developed through Khaba Renewable Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ENGIE.

Once running, the project will generate approximately 650 GWh of electricity each year and avoid nearly 180 kilotonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

Khavda Project in Gujarat

The 200 MW Khavda solar photovoltaic park sits within the Khavda Renewable Energy Park in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.

The project was developed through Enren II Energy Private Limited and is contracted to supply electricity to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement. It is expected to generate approximately 350 GWh of electricity annually.

Local Hiring During Construction

ENGIE stated that the two projects support local communities and contribute to regional economic activity, with approximately 80% of the construction workforce hired locally.

Battery Storage and Hybrid Awards Signal Growing Momentum

The commissioning milestone comes amid what ENGIE describes as strong momentum in India, where the Group has secured its first battery storage projects.

These include a 280 MW / 560 MWh battery energy storage system awarded in November 2025 and a hybrid project combining 200 MW of solar with a 100 MW / 600 MWh battery storage system secured in January 2026.

Alongside these battery storage and hybrid project awards, the newly commissioned solar capacities illustrate, according to ENGIE, its growing momentum in India and its strategy of combining renewable generation with flexibility solutions.

Nearly 2 GW in Operation or Under Construction

With around 2 GW in operation or under construction in India, ENGIE said it continues to grow its presence in the country, bringing together renewable generation and flexibility solutions to help meet growing demand for reliable, low-carbon electricity.

Executive Commentary on India's Market Potential

Pedro Vasconcelos, ENGIE Executive Vice President in charge of Renewable & Flexible Power, said, "India is a key growth market for ENGIE, where we are continuing to build scale and momentum as we contribute to one of the world's major energy transitions. As the market evolves, we also see increasing opportunities in corporate PPAs and in combining renewable generation with more sophisticated energy management and flexibility solutions."

He ended with, "Our ambition is to build on this momentum and use these capabilities to create additional value for our customers and for ENGIE."

Stay Wired Into India's Power Project Pipeline

The Indian power sector is expanding at a pace few industries can match; grid modernization, renewable integration, and cross-border transmission corridors are all moving from planning boards to construction sites. But without reliable intelligence, knowing which projects are real, funded, and advancing is a challenge in itself.

That's where the Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research comes in. It gives developers, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and investors a live view of the power project landscape across India, from early feasibility studies to commissioned plants.
