Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C Consortium Secures 495 MW Formosa 4 Offshore Substation Contract in Taiwan
The consortium between Semco Maritime of Denmark and PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C) of Vietnam has secured an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) for the offshore substation of the Formosa 4 wind farm, located off the coast of Taiwan. The contract was awarded in late August 2025 following extensive negotiation rounds, with scheduled delivery by the end of 2027.
Project Specifications and Scale
The Formosa 4 offshore wind farm is a 495 MW project developed by SRE, representing the company's third offshore wind initiative in Taiwan. The project aligns with Taiwan's localization policy and advances the nation's renewable energy ambitions. The consortium's scope includes design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the offshore substation's jacket and topside components.
Division of Responsibilities
Under the partnership arrangement, Semco Maritime will lead the engineering, procurement, and commissioning of the main MV/HV electrical systems and auxiliary platform systems. The Danish company will be supported by its long-term partner, ISC Consulting Engineers, in executing these responsibilities. PTSC M&C will oversee the jacket EPC scope, procurement of remaining topside equipment and materials, and fabrication of the topside. All fabrication work will be conducted at PTSC M&C's yard in Vung Tau, Vietnam.
