RES, the world's largest independent renewable energy company, has signed a major asset management contract with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for a 392 MW wind farm near Constanta, in southeast Romania. The announcement was made in Bucharest on 22 October 2026.
A Major Contract near Constanta
The project, known as Peștera II, is currently under construction and is expected to reach commercial operations in 2028. Once operational, the wind farm will generate enough clean electricity to power more than 500,000 Romanian homes each year.
RES has been active in Romania since 2015 and maintains its Romanian headquarters in Constanța. The company's Romanian team will support CIP through the construction phase and into operation, helping to ensure that the Peștera II wind farm is set up for strong long-term performance.
Part of a Broader European Expansion
The award strengthens RES' asset management business across Europe, following new contract wins in Greece, Belgium, Lithuania and Italy earlier this year. It also further extends the company's collaboration with CIP.
In July 2025, RES was appointed asset manager for CIP's 500 MW/1 GWh Coalburn I Battery Energy Storage System in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, one of the largest battery storage projects in Europe.
RES currently has more than 15 GW of renewable assets under management across 14 countries. The company says this scale, expertise and international footprint allow it to provide clients with a consistent, high-quality service wherever their assets are located.

Round-the-Clock Monitoring Behind the Service
RES' asset management offering is backed by its operational control centers, located in Glasgow (Scotland), Albacete (Spain), and Denver, Colorado (United States). These centers provide 24/7 monitoring and control of renewable assets for owners around the world.
According to RES, the centers help owners meet demanding compliance requirements while tracking performance closely and maximizing energy production, extending the working life of each asset.
As a service provider more broadly, RES has skills and experience in asset management, operations and maintenance (O&M), and spare parts, supporting 45 GW of renewable assets.
The company also brings to the market a range of technology-based products and digital solutions designed to maximize investment and deployment of renewable energy.
What the Partners Say
Juan Gutiérrez, CEO, Services at RES, said the growing partnership with CIP is focused on maximising the return from high-quality assets over their full lifetime. He noted that RES brings together the scale of a global services business, including round-the-clock monitoring from its control centers, and that with its highly skilled team in Romania, the company can provide CIP with the commercial and technical support to keep availability high and costs under control from the day the wind farm starts generating.
Niels Holst, Partner at Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, said Romania has an important role to play in Europe's energy transition and that the Peștera II wind farm will make a significant contribution to the country's clean energy supply.
He added that RES brings deep asset management experience and a proven approach to getting new wind farms ready for operation, which will be valuable as CIP takes the project from construction through to generation.
