Vattenfall has unveiled early-stage plans for a new onshore wind farm in Nottinghamshire, located near the villages of Misson and Gringley-on-the-Hill.
The proposed Everton Carr Wind Farm would comprise up to 16 turbines with a potential generating capacity of 112 megawatts (MW). If approved, the project could generate enough electricity to power up to 100,000 homes each year, a figure based on projected capacity using the RenewableUK UK Wind Energy Database methodology.
Early-Stage Design and Consultation
Vattenfall stressed that the project is in the very early stages of design. The company will carry out environmental and technical studies to inform the design and environmental considerations.
Targeted workshops are being held next month, in which technical stakeholders, elected representatives and Parish Councillors will be invited to provide early technical input into the current design and help build understanding of local sensitivities.
Local communities and other stakeholders will also have opportunities to provide feedback during an in-person consultation planned for early next year, with this feedback helping to inform the developing proposal.
Lucy Blake, Vattenfall's Project Manager for Everton Carr, said: "Everton Carr Wind Farm is at an early stage, and local feedback, alongside technical and environmental studies, will help shape the proposals as they develop. We want local knowledge and views to inform the project from the outset."
She added: "Cheaper, more secure electricity for the UK means generating more of our own power. Everton Carr could play an important role in the UK's energy future while also offering local jobs, economic investment, and environmental regeneration."

Contribution to UK Energy Goals
According to Vattenfall, increasing the supply of onshore wind would help contribute towards achieving the UK's renewable energy targets and national energy security at a time of both rising energy bills and the increasing urgency to tackle the climate emergency.

Potential Local Economic Benefits
Vattenfall said Everton Carr Wind Farm could also create opportunities for local businesses during construction and operation, including through employment, supply chain contracts and associated spending in the local economy.
Wider UK Onshore Wind Pipeline
The Nottinghamshire proposal is the latest in a series of recent announcements from Vattenfall's UK onshore wind portfolio. Earlier in October, the company completed all 14 turbine foundations at its 63 MW Clashindarroch II Wind Farm in Aberdeenshire, a construction milestone delivered in 11 weeks using lower-carbon foundations.
On 1 October, Vattenfall also announced early work starting on a proposed wind farm at Adlingfleet, in the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, and in late September it revealed plans to develop two new onshore wind farms in East Anglia.
United Kingdom's Power Sector Is Charging Ahead, Is Your Project Intelligence Keeping Pace?
What if you could see every grid expansion, renewable integration, and thermal plant upgrade across the United Kingdom before your competitors even hear about it? The continent's power landscape is shifting rapidly, driven by decarbonization targets and cross-border interconnection ambitions, and staying informed is no longer optional.
Missed tender deadlines and late contract intelligence translate directly into lost revenue. Teams relying on fragmented news sources often discover opportunities only after the winning bidder has been announced.
The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research consolidates the United Kingdom's entire power project pipeline into a single, actionable database, from early-stage planning through commissioning, so your team can move first and win more.
