Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ) and a leading global developer, owner, and operator of solar and energy storage assets, announced on Nov. 5, 2026, the start of commercial operation at the Court Barton Solar Farm in South Devon, near Newton Abbot in the United Kingdom.

The project has a capacity of 20 MWp and contributes to the UK's clean energy transition, according to the company's announcement issued from Kitchener, Ontario.

Output and Emissions Impact

Court Barton Solar Farm is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power around 8,500 homes each year.

The company stated the project will avoid more than 6,200 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, an amount equivalent to removing approximately 1,300 cars from the road.

Biodiversity Commitments and Community Engagement

The project is expected to deliver more than 60% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), creating opportunities to enhance habitats and support local biodiversity. As part of the project, Recurrent Energy is dedicating approximately 16 acres of land specifically to enhancing skylark habitat.

Dylan Marx, CEO of Recurrent Energy, said the UK remains a key market in the energy transition, and bringing projects like Court Barton into commercial operation demonstrates the company's ability to turn its development pipeline into clean energy infrastructure that delivers tangible benefits.

He added that the company is proud to support the UK's decarbonization ambitions while creating long-term value through positive contributions to the communities and environments where it operates.

Alongside the environmental benefits, Recurrent Energy has maintained continuous engagement with local stakeholders and supported community initiatives, including litter-picking activities at nearby beaches, helping to contribute positively to the local environment.
