Revolution Wind, a 704 MW wind farm off the northeast coast of the United States, has reached full operation and is now selling electricity under offtake agreements with three US utilities.
The facility, jointly developed by Danish company Ørsted and Germany-based Skyborn Renewables, was among several offshore wind projects that President Donald Trump's administration attempted to block as part of its drive to stifle renewables growth and promote fossil fuels.
Revolution Wind reaches commercial operations after construction resumes
Following the installation of the remaining turbines, Revolution Wind achieved commercial operations in October under offtake contracts with three power utilities in the US states of Connecticut and Rhode Island, according to Ørsted.
Last year, the Trump administration issued an order to halt work on Revolution Wind, citing national security risks due to possible radar interference. However, courts eventually allowed construction to resume.
Courts blocked stop-work orders
Several offshore wind projects were blocked by the US administration in 2025, but courts allowed work to resume. As part of its pro-fossil fuel policy, the Trump administration suspended several offshore wind projects, but its stop-work orders were blocked by courts.
The government subsequently offered developers financial compensation in exchange for abandoning offshore wind projects and redirecting investments to fossil fuels, which some companies accepted.

Power flowing to New England grid since March
Revolution Wind started delivering power to New England's electric grid on March 13, 2026. It is now generating at its full capacity, according to Ørsted.
The wind farm, located about 15 miles south of the Rhode Island coast, has 65 turbines. It is expected to supply enough electricity to power more than 350,000 homes and businesses.
Fixed-price, 20-year offtake agreements
Revolution Wind will deliver electricity under fixed-price, 20-year agreements with utilities in Rhode Island and Connecticut, providing price certainty and stability for consumers.
The project is owned by Revolution Wind LLC, a 50-50 joint venture between Global Infrastructure Partners' Skyborn Renewables and Ørsted, according to the Danish company.
