The PNE Group (renewable energy company) has successfully commissioned the Gnutz Ost wind farm in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, bringing three modern wind turbines totalling 18 megawatts of installed capacity into commercial operation.

The turbines are already feeding electricity into the grid, with the company reporting that the facility can cover the annual electricity needs of approximately 11,600 three-person households.

Turbine Configuration and Technical Details

The Gnutz Ost wind farm consists of three turbines, each rated at 6 MW. Two of the machines are Vestas V162 models, while the third is a Vestas V150. Technical and commercial operational management of the facility is carried out by energy consult GmbH, a subsidiary of PNE AG.

Portfolio Growth and Independent Power Producer Strategy

With the addition of Gnutz Ost, the PNE Group's own generation portfolio now stands at a total capacity of approximately 484 MW. The company described the integration of the wind farm as a measure that strengthens its position as an independent power producer, contributes to long-term stable cash flows, and supports a sustainable energy supply.

The transfer of the newly commissioned facility directly into the group's own portfolio reflects an ongoing strategy of retaining selected projects rather than divesting them following development.

Relationship to Gnutz West and Further Expansion Plans

Gnutz Ost is the second wind farm the PNE Group has completed in the Gnutz area. The neighboring Gnutz West wind farm, with a capacity of 30.8 MW, was finished in July 2025.

Together, the two projects represent a significant cluster of renewable generation capacity in the same locality in Schleswig-Holstein. PNE has also indicated that further development prospects exist in the southern area adjacent to both wind farms.

On secured land, the company is planning the construction of up to four additional wind turbines, though no timeline or capacity figures for that expansion were provided at the time of the Gnutz Ost commissioning announcement.

Local Foundation and Regional Community Engagement

A central element of the project's social dimension is a local foundation established specifically to channel proceeds from both the Gnutz Ost and Gnutz West wind farms into charitable activities in the surrounding region.

The foundation is intended to direct financial benefits from the two wind farms toward community projects, with examples cited by the company including support for kindergartens and the refurbishment of playgrounds. The company described the foundation as a reflection of the regional value creation generated by the projects.

Roland Stanze, Chief Operating Officer of PNE AG, pointed to the Gnutz project as an illustration of the importance of community dialogue in wind energy development.

"It was particularly evident in Gnutz how important it is to maintain close dialogue with the people on site from the very beginning and to incorporate their perspectives into project development. This collaboration forms the foundation for the success and long-term acceptance of such projects," Stanze said.

The company noted that the project was realized in close cooperation with the municipalities involved, local partners, and landowners, emphasizing that local engagement was a defining characteristic of how the development was carried out from its earliest stages.

Operational Management Structure

Day-to-day technical and commercial management of the Gnutz Ost facility has been assigned to energy consult GmbH, the PNE AG subsidiary that handles operational responsibilities for assets within the group's generation portfolio.

The arrangement is consistent with how PNE manages other facilities held within its own generation assets, centralizing operational expertise within the group structure while allowing the parent company to focus on broader development and investment activities.
