Nordex Lands 255 MW Worth of German Wind Orders Across 14 Wind Farm Projects

Updated on Jun 08, 2026, 02:37 PM IST

The Nordex Group has secured approximately 255 MW of new wind energy orders from Germany, the Hamburg-based turbine manufacturer announced on June 8, 2026.

The contracts, accumulated during the first two months of the second quarter, span 14 separate wind energy projects and involve the installation of 39 turbines in total.

Order Breakdown and Turbine Types

The orders cover three turbine models from Nordex's product range. Of the 39 turbines ordered, 19 are of the N163/6.X type, eleven are the N175/6.X variant, and nine are N149 turbines.

All contracts include service and maintenance agreements, which Nordex says are designed to ensure the long-term reliable operation of the equipment once commissioned.

Construction and commissioning of all wind projects covered by these orders are planned to take place between summer 2027 and spring 2028. The names of the customers and wind farms beyond the one disclosed project have not been made public.

Rheine-Catenhorn Community Wind Farm

Among the orders announced is a 35 MW project at the Rheine-Catenhorn community wind farm in North Rhine-Westphalia. For this project, Nordex will supply and install five N163/6.X turbines at a hub height of 164 metres. The order was awarded in cooperation with BBWind, a project developer that specialises in community wind projects.

The Rheine-Catenhorn wind farm is structured as a community wind project, a model that allows municipalities and local residents to participate directly in the revenues generated by the installation. Nordex characterised this project as reflective of the growing importance of local participation models in Germany's broader wind energy expansion.

Karsten Brüggemann, Vice President Region Central of the Nordex Group, said community wind farms play a central role in Germany's energy transition, combining economic benefits with local acceptance.

"They enable people in the vicinity to participate directly in the energy transition," Brüggemann said. "We are very pleased to implement another project together with BBWind in this important segment and thus further advance the expansion of wind energy."

Michael Schlüß, Managing Director of BBWind, described Nordex as an important and experienced partner within the company's manufacturer network for community wind projects.

Long-Standing Partnership With BBWind

Nordex's relationship with BBWind in North Rhine-Westphalia stretches back to 2014. Over the course of that partnership, the two companies have connected a total of 26 Nordex turbines from the Delta and Delta4000 series to the grid, representing more than 100 MW of installed capacity in the region.

In recent months preceding this announcement, Nordex had also received orders from BBWind for 78 MW of capacity designated exclusively for community wind farms in North Rhine-Westphalia, further underlining the depth of the commercial relationship between the two organisations.

Nordex's Market Position and Corporate Background

The Nordex Group has commissioned more than 64 GW of wind power capacity across more than 40 markets since its founding in 1985. The company generated consolidated sales of approximately 7.6 billion euros in 2025 and currently employs more than 11,100 people worldwide.

Nordex operates a manufacturing network that includes factories in Germany, Spain, Brazil, India, and the United States. Its product portfolio concentrates on onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW-plus classes, which the company says are designed to meet the market requirements of countries with limited available space and regions facing constrained grid capacity. Nordex SE is listed on the MDAX and TecDAX indices of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
