Natural Power (independent renewable energy consultancy) has provided technical advisory services to egg Power (renewable energy company) across both the acquisition and financing of the 90 MW Chirmorie wind farm in South Ayrshire, Scotland, marking the largest renewable energy project undertaken by the Liberty Global subsidiary in the United Kingdom to date.

A Milestone Transaction for egg Power

The Chirmorie wind farm represents egg Power's fourth UK renewable energy project rights acquisition and its first since the company secured a £400 million construction debt-financing facility in December 2025. As part of the transaction, egg Power has signed a power purchase agreement to supply Amazon with electricity generated by the project.

Natural Power acted as technical adviser throughout the deal, delivering due diligence services across both the acquisition phase and the subsequent project financing phase.

The firm says this dual-phase involvement allowed it to maintain continuity of analysis and ensure its findings met the expectations of lenders as well as the requirements of the acquisition itself.

Scope of Technical Due Diligence

During the acquisition phase, Natural Power delivered detailed technical due diligence with input from its in-house construction team, which contributed analysis of delivery considerations and project risks.

Once the acquisition was completed, the team was re-engaged to support the financing process, updating and refining its earlier analysis to align with lender requirements and funding expectations.

The advisory work covered the project's technical, environmental and commercial parameters, providing both egg Power and its lenders with a consistent evidence base to underpin investment decisions across the full transaction lifecycle.

Neil Marshall, Advisory Lead for Onshore Wind at Natural Power, described the engagement as a significant step in egg Power's development of a UK renewable energy portfolio.

"We are delighted to have supported egg Power on both the acquisition and financing of the Chirmorie wind farm," Marshall said. "By providing continuity between acquisition and financing, we were able to deliver a consistent, high-quality due diligence process that supports confident investment decisions."

egg Power's Growing UK Portfolio

egg Power is part of Liberty Global and has been building out its position in the UK renewable energy market through a series of project rights acquisitions. The Chirmorie wind farm is described as the company's largest UK project to date, and its completion of both acquisition and financing on the South Ayrshire site adds to a portfolio that now spans four UK acquisitions.

The USD 531.8 million construction debt-financing facility that egg Power secured in December 2025 provided the financial framework within which the Chirmorie transaction was structured. The Chirmorie deal is identified as the first acquisition egg Power has completed drawing on that facility.

Natural Power's Role in Renewable Transactions

Natural Power's involvement in the Chirmorie transaction reflects its stated capability to support clients across the full project lifecycle, from acquisition through to financial close.

The firm works with a range of clients in the energy sector, including banks, developers, independent power producers, utilities and investment funds, providing technical advisory services intended to support financial decision-making on green energy projects.

The Chirmorie engagement specifically highlighted Natural Power's ability to re-engage and update prior analysis to satisfy lender requirements during the financing phase, an approach the firm says provides clients and lenders with the confidence needed to progress complex renewable energy developments.

Amazon Power Purchase Agreement

The power purchase agreement signed with Amazon is a central commercial element of the Chirmorie project. Under the agreement, the electricity generated by the 90 MW wind farm will be supplied to Amazon.

The deal is consistent with a broader trend of large technology companies entering into long-term power purchase agreements with renewable energy developers as part of their own clean energy commitments, though the specific terms and duration of the agreement were not disclosed in the announcement.

South Ayrshire Project Context

The Chirmorie wind farm is located in South Ayrshire, a region that has seen continued interest from wind energy developers given its wind resource characteristics.

At 90 MW, the project sits within the commercial scale of onshore wind development in Scotland, where planning and grid frameworks have supported a sustained pipeline of projects by both established and newer entrants to the market.

Natural Power noted that the transaction underscores the importance of robust technical due diligence in underpinning successful renewable energy transactions and delivering long-term asset value.

The firm's commentary on the deal points to the increasing pace of investment in renewable energy as a driver of demand for rigorous advisory services during complex acquisitions and financings.

Powering Your Pipeline: Stay Ahead of the United Kingdom's Energy Infrastructure Wave

United Kingdom's power sector is undergoing one of the most ambitious transformation periods in its history, with grid modernisation, renewable energy expansion, and energy security investments driving a surge in project activity across the country. For developers, contractors, and suppliers, the window to position early is narrow, and missing a key tender or contract award can mean sitting on the sidelines of a decade-defining buildout.

Staying competitive in this environment demands more than periodic market scans. You need a single, structured intelligence source that maps every stage of the project lifecycle, from early-stage planning through to completion, so your business development and procurement teams are always working from the freshest data available.

The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research is built precisely for this challenge, giving power sector professionals across the United Kingdom a comprehensive, continuously updated view of where opportunities are emerging and how they are progressing.
