This marks the first EIA approval for a floating offshore wind project in Italy, signifying a pivotal moment in jump-starting the offshore wind industry and supporting Italy’s renewable energy and climate goals.

Floating wind farms represent a transformative approach to renewable energy production, tapping into offshore wind resources in deeper waters where traditional fixed-bottom installations are not feasible. Utilizing innovative floating platforms anchored to the seabed, 7SeasMed aims to unlock new opportunities for sustainable energy generation while minimizing environmental impact.

7SeasMed is part of a larger 3GW offshore wind portfolio in Italy, jointly owned by GreenIT and the CIP partnership, with COP serving as the lead development partner. This portfolio includes projects such as Ichnusa (504 MW, Sardinia), Tyrrhenian (500 MW, Latium), Nurax (500 MW, Sardinia), and Poseidon (1000 MW, Sardinia).
