AGEL Finalized Power Purchase Agreement for Supplying 8 Gw of Solar Capacity with SECI

AGEL (Adani Green Energy Limited), the renewable energy division of Adani Enterprises, has announced in a press release the finalization of a PPA (power purchase agreement) with SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India).

Adani Green Energy will supply 1,799 MW of solar power. With this agreement, AGEL has completed the power offtake tie-up for the entire 8,000 MW manufacturing-linked solar tender that SECI awarded in June 2022. Furthermore, this SECI tender is considered the world's largest solar tender.

Additionally, the company has committed to manufacturing 2 GW of solar cells and modules as part of the tender. Recently, Mundra Solar Energy received the commercial operational date certificate from SECI for the 2 GW solar cells and modules manufacturing facility in Gujarat.

 

Mr. Amit Singh, CEO of Adani Green Energy Limited, said, “Adani Green is determined to deliver more than 45 GW of renewable energy, marking a five-fold increase from our current operating portfolio. This reaffirms our resolve to provide affordable and accessible clean energy.”

 

In June 2019, SECI issued a request for proposals for a solar power supply capacity of 12 GW and a solar cell and module manufacturing capacity of 3 GW (including the greenshoe option). Azure Power was assigned 4 GW for the development of solar projects and 1 GW for manufacturing capacity, with the remaining capacity awarded to Adani.
