Tillotts Pharma AG, the Rheinfelden-based specialty pharmaceutical company, has signed an agreement on 23 October 2026 to acquire Haupt Pharma Wülfing GmbH (HPW), a pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Gronau, Germany.

The announcement was made public on 26 October 2026.

Tillotts acquisition to expand pharmaceutical production

The acquisition is intended to expand Tillotts' pharmaceutical production capacities and strengthen its own value creation. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

The transaction remains subject to conditions customary for deals of this kind, including the granting of the necessary regulatory approvals.

A long-standing manufacturing partner

The Gronau site has been a key manufacturer of Asacol, a core product in the Tillotts portfolio, for many years. By bringing the site into its own ownership, Tillotts will in the future be able to directly manage production capacity, planning, and quality, and flexibly tailor production to market requirements.

Thomas A. Tóth von Kiskér, CEO of the Tillotts Group, framed the move in terms of supply reliability. "Reliability is essential to us. Patients and our partners rely on us to supply them safely with high-quality products. With the Gronau site, we are strengthening our ability to live up to that trust over the long term," he said in the announcement.

According to the company, the acquisition forms part of Tillotts' long-term strategy as a growing specialty pharmaceutical company with high-performance manufacturing sites. It is intended to support the long-term supply of the existing portfolio, which is currently marketed in around 65 countries.

USD 25.7 million modernisation programme

Tillotts plans to invest around USD 25.7 million in the Gronau site over the coming years.

The company says this investment is intended to modernise the site, further improve quality and efficiency, and lay the foundations for future growth.

More than a century of pharmaceutical history

The Gronau site brings with it a pharmaceutical history spanning more than 100 years. Its capabilities include the development, manufacture, and packaging of solid dosage forms; analytical and formulation services; and the packaging and distribution of clinical trial supplies.

Once the takeover is complete, around 280 employees will become part of the Tillotts Group, which already employs 370 people across Europe. Tillotts describes the specialist knowledge and many years of experience of the Gronau staff as key to maintaining and further developing the site's expertise in a targeted manner.

"The strength of this site lies in its people and their expertise. We look forward to welcoming the employees to Tillotts and building on this experience together," said Tóth von Kiskér.
