Sungrow and EP Produzione officially signed an agreement on September 18 to build a large-scale battery energy storage system in the Trapani area of Sicily, Italy. The project will utilize Sungrow's PowerTitan 2.0 products, marking the first application of this technology in the Italian market.
Project Specifications and Technology
The energy storage system will have a storage duration of 2 hours and a capacity of 100MW/220 MWh, equipped with 44 PowerTitan 2.0 units. At the press event for the opening of Sungrow's Italian office, Emilio Manzoni, Head of Sungrow's PV & Energy Storage Business, introduced the PowerTitan 2.0 battery as a groundbreaking technology. “This product integrates a string inverter inside the container and is the world's first energy storage product capable of directly outputting alternating current (AC),” Manzoni stated.
“It not only features a complete modular design but also offers advantages in energy density, making it an ideal choice for Italy, a country with high land costs that is in urgent need of compact and high-performance solutions.”

Safety and Installation Features
The PowerTitan 2.0 architecture incorporates advanced safety measures, equipped with a safety system certified through large-scale combustion tests. Sungrow highlighted the installation advantages of the technology, explaining that “The AC-DC modules of PowerTitan 2.0 adopt an integrated design, with pre-assembled battery modules and power conversion systems. This enables seamless integration and significantly shortens the project installation cycle.”
