Shanghai Electric Wind Power and Siemens Gamesa have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore potential cooperation in aftermarket services, local spare parts supply, operations and maintenance capabilities, and international onshore wind markets. The agreement, as reported, sets out the areas in which the two companies intend to examine working together.
The companies said the discussions will explore how their experience, technical capabilities, and service networks could support further collaboration both in China and internationally.
Agreement Builds on Decade of Collaboration
The MoU builds on a partnership that spans roughly ten years. During that period, the companies said, more than 2,000 Shanghai Electric Wind Power offshore turbines have been operating steadily in China.
Siemens Gamesa has also pointed to Shanghai Electric Wind Power as a successful example of localised technology licensing, a relationship the two companies highlighted alongside the new agreement.

Context within Broader Siemens Gamesa Activity
The pact comes amid a series of recent announcements involving Siemens Gamesa. In related coverage, the company signed a 500 MW Egypt wind pact with Alcazar in November 2025, secured its first 7 MW turbine orders the same month, and offloaded its India and Sri Lanka units in March 2025.
No financial terms or timelines for the cooperation were disclosed in the announcement.

Focus on Expanding Wind Turbine Service Capabilities
The proposed cooperation could help both companies strengthen their aftermarket support for wind power projects, particularly in markets where reliable spare-parts availability and maintenance services are essential for turbine performance.
By examining opportunities to combine local supply capabilities with technical expertise and established service networks, Shanghai Electric Wind Power and Siemens Gamesa aim to identify areas for future collaboration.
The discussions could also support their efforts to serve international onshore wind markets, although the companies have not yet announced specific projects or implementation plans.
