RWE Secures 495 MW Offshore Wind Project in South Korea

Last Updated on 04th April 2024

RWE has been awarded the electricity business license to develop the 495 MW Seohae offshore wind project in South Korea. The project is located 45 kilometers off the coast of Taean County in South Korea's Chungcheongnam Province. The electricity business license grants RWE its first exclusive development rights for offshore wind in Korea since the company opened an office in Seoul in 2021.

The award of an EBL, a mandatory requirement that permits companies to generate and supply electricity in Korea, is a significant milestone for RWE in the development of its first offshore wind project in South Korea

Furthermore, RWE plans to work alongside local communities and Taean County to deliver clean energy to the region. This project is expected to create long-term benefits, including new jobs and opportunities for residents, businesses, and suppliers. RWE is committed to working with local companies throughout the development process. They will also collaborate with Taean County and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) to ensure the wind farm can connect to the electricity grid.
