NTT DATA, a global leader in AI, digital business, and technology services, has announced an agreement with Bloom Energy (NYSE: BE) to deploy 900 megawatts (MW) of onsite power across multiple data center projects worldwide.

The announcement, made on November 5, 2026, in London and San Jose, California, marks the largest international project in Bloom Energy's history to date.

NTT to Deploy Bloom Energy Fuel Cells for Data Center Power

Under the agreement, NTT Global Data Centers will use Bloom Energy's ready-to-deploy fuel cell technology as primary power to support growing data center capacity and evolving AI infrastructure needs, with initial shipments starting in 2027.

The deal is designed to provide greater flexibility in bringing new capacity online as demand for digital infrastructure continues to grow.

Speed to Power as a Competitive Advantage

The agreement comes as the rapid acceleration of AI infrastructure has made access to clean and reliable power a strategic competitive advantage for data center operators.

According to the announcement, modular fuel cell systems can be deployed rapidly and expanded in phases, allowing power capacity to come online alongside data center construction and to grow with increasingly power-dense AI workloads.

"Our clients are building AI capabilities at a pace the grid alone cannot always match, and speed to power has become one of the defining factors in delivering capacity when and where it's needed," said Doug Adams, CEO of NTT Global Data Centers.

"Bloom's onsite power gives us a reliable, scalable way to bring capacity online alongside construction, while honoring our commitment to the communities where we build and operate. Its fuel cells protect local air quality, use minimal water, and run quietly, which matters to us just as much as the megawatts. This agreement gives us a foundation to power our clients' growth across our global portfolio."

Bloom Energy Positions for AI Compute Growth

For Bloom Energy, the deal underscores the company's positioning at a moment when AI compute demand is expanding from large-scale AI factories to deployment at scale for edge and inference use cases.

"Companies that can secure power quickly will have a differentiated advantage and accelerated path to revenue," said Aman Joshi, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Bloom Energy.

"As AI compute makes its way from AI factories to deployment at scale for edge and inference use cases, we at Bloom are uniquely positioned to help our customers meet the moment by enabling time to power with highly reliable, cleaner power that meets AI workload requirements for the digital era. Together with NTT Global Data Centers, we are establishing a strong foundation in key strategic markets and creating a model that can extend across their international portfolio."

A Technology Built for Community Sensitivity

Beyond capacity and speed, the partnership highlights the community-facing attributes of Bloom's technology. Bloom's fuel cells generate electricity without combustion, delivering highly reliable onsite power with low local air emissions, minimal water use, and quiet operation.

These characteristics, according to the announcement, make the technology community-friendly while still supporting the enormous power requirements of modern AI infrastructure.

A Relationship Designed to Reach Gigawatt Scale

The agreement between the two companies is explicitly framed as expandable. The relationship is designed to grow across NTT DATA's Global Data Center portfolio and to reach gigawatt scale, according to the announcement.

This positions the 900 MW commitment as a foundation rather than a ceiling, with both companies establishing what they describe as a strong footing in key strategic markets.

The Companies Behind the Deal

NTT DATA is a business and technology services leader with more than USD 30 billion in revenue, serving 75% of the Fortune Global 100. The company is one of the world's leading AI and digital infrastructure providers, with capabilities spanning enterprise-scale AI, cloud, security, connectivity, data centers, and application services.

It operates with experts in more than 70 countries and is part of NTT Group, which invests over USD 3 billion each year in research and development.

Bloom Energy, headquartered in Silicon Valley, provides fuel cell systems that deliver ultra-reliable, clean, and highly scalable onsite electricity for Fortune 500 customers around the world, including data centers, semiconductor manufacturing, large utilities, and other commercial and industrial sectors, as well as mission-critical organizations such as hospitals, college campuses, and retailers.

The company employs more than 2,000 people worldwide and manufactures its systems in the United States.

What Comes Next

With initial shipments scheduled to begin in 2027, the agreement sets in motion what both companies describe as a model for powering data center growth across NTT DATA's international portfolio.

As AI-driven demand continues to strain power availability in markets around the world, the partnership positions onsite fuel cell generation as a primary power source rather than a supplementary one, a framing that both companies present as central to how new digital infrastructure will be built in the years ahead.

Powering the Next Wave of Data Center Development, From Site Selection to Switch-On

Data center demand is accelerating at an unprecedented pace, yet the window to capture new opportunities is narrowing. Hyperscalers, colocation providers, and edge operators are racing to secure land, power, and fiber across markets worldwide, and those who identify projects first consistently win the most valuable contracts. The question is, are you seeing these opportunities before your competitors do?
