Lambda, Inc., the company describing itself as the Superintelligence Cloud, announced on November 4, 2026, plans to build a large-scale data center campus in Lowndes County, Alabama.
The proposed Red Clay Technology Center Campus, readied for development by Cloverleaf Infrastructure, represents an estimated USD 33.1 billion investment in the state and is expected to create more than 1,000 construction jobs over the course of development.
Tax Revenue Projections Through 2049
According to figures previously announced by Cloverleaf Infrastructure, the project is projected to generate more than USD 2.8 billion in local tax revenue through 2049, including more than USD 1.6 billion for Lowndes County Public Schools.
Combined state and local tax revenue is projected to reach USD 3.4 billion through 2049. The announcement states the project is expected to generate billions in tax revenue for local schools and the community.
Samita Jeter, Superintendent of Lowndes County Public Schools, said the more than USD 1.6 billion in projected project revenue for local schools represents a significant, long-term investment in the educational future of the county.
She said the resources will help strengthen school facilities, expand career and technical education programs, and better support students, teachers, and staff, and noted the district sees an opportunity to explore new incentives to attract and retain highly qualified teachers.
Jobs and Local Hiring Commitments
Beyond construction employment, the project is anticipated to support more than 225 full-time roles, offering career opportunities in operations, technical, and support functions.
Lambda said it will work with local partners to identify opportunities for Lowndes County residents to fill operational positions and for local contractors to support construction.
Lowndes County Commissioner Charlie King, Jr. called Project Red Clay a significant investment in the county and its future, saying Lambda's commitment to hire qualified county residents and contractors will provide opportunities for local workers and businesses, while the jobs and local tax revenue the project is expected to bring will improve schools, support community priorities, and create lasting value for residents.
Thomas Ellis, Chairman of the Lowndes County Economic Development Commission, said the county worked hard to secure the investment because it believes in what it will mean for the community's future.
He said the project will bring good-paying jobs, create opportunities for local businesses, and provide lasting resources to improve schools, roads, and essential services, giving Lowndes County the ability to shape its own future and create opportunities for generations to come.

Construction Timeline and Site Details
The project will be powered by Alabama Power, pending regulatory approval. Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027 and is anticipated to take up to five years.
The campus is planned near U.S. Highway 80 and Alabama Highway 21, with final design details to be developed as planning progresses.
Ratepayer Protection Commitments
Lambda said it will pay the full cost of the power and grid infrastructure required to serve the facility through upfront financial commitments that apply even if project plans change, so those costs are not shifted to Alabama Power's existing customers.
Both Lambda and Alabama Power have signed the White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge, reinforcing the commitment to protecting local ratepayers from the costs of serving the facility.
Water Stewardship Plans
The facility will deploy closed-loop cooling technology that significantly reduces water use compared with traditional data center cooling systems.
Additionally, Lambda plans to partner with N-Drip to support local farmers in conserving water, working with the community to return at least as much water as the facility uses.
Project Design and Community Investment
The project's design will include setbacks, buffers, noise-reduction measures, and DarkSky lighting to limit impacts on neighboring properties. Lambda will also use sight-line modeling to guide building placement and respect the character of surrounding properties, and the company committed to upholding all requirements established in the Project Red Clay development agreements with Lowndes County.
In partnership with Cloverleaf Infrastructure, Lambda is investing USD 10 million through a Community Benefits Agreement with the Central Alabama Community Foundation and is working to ensure the investment reflects community input and supports locally identified priorities.
Executive Statements on Community Approach
Stephen Balaban, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Lambda, said building a successful project starts with building strong relationships in the community.
"We want to understand what matters to Lowndes County residents and local leaders and ensure those perspectives inform our approach," he said, adding that the company is committed to showing up as a good neighbor, keeping the lines of communication open, and building a relationship that lasts well beyond the project's development.
Michel Combes, Chief Executive Officer at Lambda, described the project as a significant and historic investment in Lowndes County and an opportunity to create lasting value for the area.
"We take seriously our responsibility to develop this project thoughtfully, with respect for local resources, existing infrastructure, and community priorities," he said, stating that responsibility will guide the company's approach as the project moves forward.
From Hyperscale Campuses in Virginia to Edge Facilities in Texas, Track Every US Data Center Project as It Happens
The United States is in the middle of an unprecedented data center buildout, driven by AI workloads, cloud expansion, and surging demand for edge computing infrastructure. But with billions of dollars in new capacity planned across Northern Virginia, Phoenix, Dallas, and beyond, the winners in this market won't be those who react to completed deals; they'll be those who spot opportunities early.
That's where the Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research comes in. It gives you real-time visibility into data center developments across the US, from land acquisition and permitting through commissioning and handover, so your team can engage stakeholders at exactly the right moment.
