The Heavy Engineering business vertical of Larsen & Toubro has dispatched the 8th Steam Generator for India's fleet of 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs), completing the milestone three months ahead of the contractual delivery schedule. The equipment was manufactured at L&T's Heavy Engineering Complex at Hazira.

The steam generator is described as among the most critical components of a nuclear power plant. According to the company, the early delivery reflects its continued commitment to safety, quality, and execution excellence while supporting India's rapidly expanding nuclear energy program.

A Pivotal Moment for India's Clean Energy Transition

The company characterized the milestone as arriving at a pivotal time in India's clean energy transition journey. With the Government of India accelerating nuclear capacity addition to strengthen energy security, support industrial growth, enable AI and digital infrastructure, and meet long-term decarbonization goals, timely delivery of critical nuclear island equipment remains an imperative, L&T stated.

The achievement, the company said, reinforces the strength of India's indigenous nuclear manufacturing ecosystem and its readiness to support one of the world's largest civil nuclear expansion programs.
