INOX Air Products to Establish Green Hydrogen Plant in Rajasthan

INOX Air Products has announced plans to establish its first green hydrogen project in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. The project will have an annual capacity to generate up to 190 metric tons of green hydrogen through the electrolysis process. INOX India and Asahi India Glass formed a partnership and signed a 20-year offtake agreement for the supply of green hydrogen to AIS’s greenfield float glass facility in Soniyana, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.

This will be the first ever green hydrogen plant in India for the float glass industry, paving the way for sustainable glass production. The plant will have the capacity to generate up to 190 tons of green hydrogen per year through the electrolysis process. The plant will use solar power when it begins operations in July 2024.

INOXAP is responsible for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) and operation and maintenance of the green hydrogen project in Rajasthan. In the first phase, 95 TPA of green hydrogen will be supplied to AIS. As a part of the agreement, AIS will invest in the solar power plant, which would supply renewable energy for the generation of green hydrogen, which would be consumed in AIS’s float glass manufacturing process.

Asahi India Glass is setting up a greenfield project in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, for manufacturing high-quality float glass to be used for automotive and architectural purposes with technology collaboration from its partners, AGC Europe.

Hydrogen Generation & Supply

India’s Largest Industrial Gas Complex

INOX Air Products owns & operates India’s largest industrial gas complex, which supplies 7900 metric tons per day of industrial gases, including 6,000 tons of oxygen and 1,900 tons of nitrogen, to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Ltd. in Hazira, Gujarat, India.

The plant was commissioned on January 5, 2015. The entire complex is now the biggest industrial gas complex owned and run by a single company.
