SPIC will initially construct a 10,000 TPY pilot plant utilizing Tsing Energy Development's technology to produce sustainable aviation fuel from hydrogen derived from wind energy. The plant is expected to produce fuel by late 2025.

SPIC operates a cumulative capacity of 160 GW of installed clean power capacity and possesses the most substantial renewable resources among all state utilities in China. The country remains committed to advancing the adoption of environmentally friendly energy alternatives.

SPIC's substantial investment represents a significant milestone in this direction, as it facilitates technological advancements, diminishes carbon emissions, and establishes China as a leader in the worldwide sustainable energy arena.

The integration of wind energy, hydrogen generation, and the development of environmentally friendly aviation fuels exemplifies a comprehensive strategy for tackling ecological issues and promoting the renewable energy movement.

What is a sustainable aviation fuel?
SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) is a drop-in replacement for conventional jet fuel that is made from renewable sources, such as biomass, waste, or even captured carbon dioxide. It offers a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fossil fuels, making it a key technology for decarbonizing the aviation industry.
