Global Wind Service has completed the installation of all 76 turbines at Baltic Power, Poland's first offshore wind farm, bringing the approximately 1.2 GW project a step closer to full commercial operation. The wind farm is being developed jointly by Polish energy company ORLEN and Canada-based Northland Power.

Each of the 76 units is a Vestas V236-15 MW turbine, described as among the most powerful models currently deployed offshore. Baltic Power has already delivered first power to Poland's national grid and is now working through final commissioning.

Installation complete at Poland's first offshore wind farm

Global Wind Service, known as GWS, made the announcement, confirming that all 76 Vestas V236-15 MW turbines are now in place at Baltic Power. Final commissioning is underway ahead of full commercial operation.

The farm has already sent first power to Poland's national grid, a sign that the infrastructure is working while commissioning continues across the site. Baltic Power is a joint development between ORLEN and Northland Power.

GWS's scope of work across the project

GWS's involvement at Baltic Power spanned multiple phases, including pre-assembly, offshore installation, and high-voltage works throughout the campaign. The company drew on mechanical, electrical, and rope access expertise at each stage.

A standout contribution came from GWS's in-house high-voltage department. That team managed high-voltage terminations, high-voltage commissioning, and specialist HV Control Person functions, a role focused on keeping personnel safe around high-voltage equipment.

Bringing these capabilities under one roof helped streamline coordination across a technically complex offshore build. Running high-voltage safety in parallel with mechanical and electrical installation takes careful planning, and GWS's integrated setup was central to how the project got done.

Technical demands of the V236-15 MW turbine

The Vestas V236-15 MW is one of the largest turbines currently going into the sea. At 15 megawatts per unit, it sits at the top end of what is commercially available in offshore wind right now, and working with it at scale is not a routine installation campaign.

GWS noted that the turbine's size and technical requirements demanded specialist knowledge, adaptability, and tight coordination between teams. Working at height on structures this large, while managing complex electrical systems, puts real pressure on personnel and logistics alike.

The project also built on an existing working relationship between GWS and Vestas. Knowing a manufacturer's systems, tolerances, and procedures cuts down on friction during installation and commissioning, especially when the hardware is as sophisticated as the V236.

Significance for Poland's offshore wind sector and GWS's local presence

Baltic Power is the first project of its kind in Poland, a distinction that matters for the country's energy transition. Poland has been pushing to grow its renewable energy capacity, and getting an offshore wind sector off the ground is a meaningful part of that effort.

GWS also has a local dimension to the project that goes beyond headline numbers. The company runs a major office in Szczecin, on Poland's northwest coast, with a local workforce supporting its international operations.

Being part of the country's first offshore wind farm reinforces that presence in a concrete way, and GWS has described Poland as an important part of its broader operations. Baltic Power strengthens its standing in both the onshore and offshore wind markets there.
