Aker Solutions has received a letter of award (LOA) from PTSC Mechanical and Construction Limited Company (PTSC M&C) for a sizeable contract covering detail design work related to the redevelopment of the Maydan Mahzam oil field offshore Qatar.

Letter of Award Confirmed for Sizeable Contract

The announcement, dated November 5, 2026, marks a significant milestone for the Norwegian engineering company as it adds to its portfolio of offshore oil and gas work in the Middle East region.

The award is classified as sizeable under Aker Solutions' own definition, which places such contracts in a value range of between USD 53.86 million and USD 161.59 million.

The LOA remains subject to the signing of the final contract, upon which the company expects to book the order intake in the fourth quarter of 2026 within its Renewables and Field Development segment.

Engineering Work Headed to Kuala Lumpur and Mumbai

The detailed design work under the award will be executed by Aker Solutions' engineering teams based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Mumbai, India. The company highlighted the combined strength of these offices in securing and delivering the scope.

Scope Covers Topsides, Jackets, and Brownfield Tie-In

Under PTSC M&C's project scope, Aker Solutions will provide detailed design services for several offshore installations. The scope includes three major topsides, four jackets, and brownfield tie-in work. PTSC M&C has been selected by QatarEnergy for a key package within the wider redevelopment program for the field.

The redevelopment itself is a major undertaking planned by operator QatarEnergy. According to the announcement, the state operator is now planning a major redevelopment project with the aim of upgrading the existing field infrastructure and extending the operational life of the asset.

A Field With Decades of Production History

The Maydan Mahzam oil field is located approximately 100 kilometers northeast of the Qatari coastline and 28 kilometres southeast f Halul Island, in water depths of about 40 meters.

The field, together with the nearby Bul Hanine field, was discovered in the 1960s and has been in continuous production since 1965, making it one of Qatar's long-standing offshore producing assets.

The planned redevelopment represents the next chapter for this mature field, with the engineering scope now awarded to Aker Solutions through PTSC M&C forming a key part of the upgrade effort.
