ReNew Power is a pioneer in India's renewable energy sector. Established in 2011, ReNew Power offers decarbonization solutions through utility-scale wind and solar projects. Its portfolio also includes green hydrogen projects and energy storage solutions. Renew has a 1.9% share of India’s total solar and wind energy capacity. The company's projects are located across more than 150 sites in 18 Indian states. 

 

In 2024, ReNew Power generated 19,492 GWh of clean energy, sufficient to power approximately 5.3 million Indian households annually. Through their renewable energy operations, ReNew mitigated 16 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, by 2030, ReNew is planning to raise its renewable energy capacity in Gujarat by 50 GW.

 

It utilizes cutting-edge technologies to accelerate the transition to green energy and address the unique requirements of the B2B segment in India. It was once one of the "Top 15 Climate Tech Companies to Watch" in a list published by MIT Technology Review. Recently, in August 2024, Microsoft signed a 438 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) with ReNew Power. 

ReNew Power is planning to invest USD 2.5 billion to establish India's largest renewable energy complex in Andhra Pradesh, marking its return to the state after five years. The project includes a 1,800 MW solar plant, a 1,000 MW wind facility, and a 2 GWh battery energy storage system.

 

Apart from this, they have also secured a USD 100 million investment from British International Investment (BII) to expand their solar manufacturing operations in India through their subsidiary, ReNew Photovoltaics. This investment will support the construction of a new 4 GW TOPCon cell facility in Dholera.

Furthermore, Sterling and Wilson is one of the largest solar EPC companies in the world. The company provides services for large-scale solar power generation, floating solar installations, hybrid systems and energy storage, and renewable energy solutions. In 2011 they ventured into the solar EPC business in India.

 

Their primary focus is on project design and engineering, encompassing all stages of project execution from conceptualization to commissioning. JSW Energy

JSW Energy, a part of the conglomerate JSW Group, specializes in the development and operation of hydroelectric projects across India. Established in 2006, the company's objective is to optimize the use of renewable energy through cutting-edge technologies. Their total power generation is given below:

JSW Energy Limited recently commissioned 317 MW of renewable energy capacity in august 2025 taking its total installed capacity to 13,097 MW.

In April 2025, JSW Energy is expected to have a 10 GW operational capacity, spread across various thermal and renewable energy projects. The company is one of the largest privately owned enterprises in India, generating hydropower.

Furthermore, they have also signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd for 250 MW of wind capacity at a tariff of INR 3.65/KWh. Recently, JSW Neo Energy, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, secured a 25-year PPA with SECI to supply 230 MW of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) at INR 4.98 per kWh. This marks JSW Energy's first PPA for an FDRE project. Also, JSW Renew Energy Forty Five, another step-down subsidiary, signed a PPA with BESCOM for a 100 MW grid-connected solar project with a 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for 25 years at a tariff of Rs 4.31 per kWh.

 

Furthermore, JSW Energy recently signed a power purchase agreement with NTPC for a 700 MW solar power project. Moreover, JSW Energy is taking there innovations in new avenues by developing the largest commercial scale green hydrogen project in India.

One of the leading public sector green energy companies, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, was established on October 7th, 2020. NTPC REL is a public sector renewable energy company and is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited. As of October 15th, 2024, NTPC-REL’s renewable energy capacity is around 4015 MW. Around 9686 MW capacity is under construction, and 10,775 MW of renewable energy projects are in the planning stages. Recently, the company commenced operations on multiple solar projects.

On 8th September 2025, NTPC signed a MoU with V.O Chidambaranar Port Authority to establish a green hydrogen fuelling station to deploy hydrogen power trucks for port operations.

 

On 5th August, NTPC announced it received a major green ammonia supply floated by SECI. NTPC also received a tender to supply solar modules for 1.5 GW solar project at the RVUNL solar park in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Recently it has announced commercial operation of its Dayapar Wind project in Gujarat.

In February 2024, NTPC REL commenced the operations of the Nokhra Solar Project in Rajasthan. In August 2024, NTPC commissioned a 160 MW capacity of the 320 MW Bhainsara solar project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

 

The company plans to develop an extensive portfolio of renewable energy projects in India. Recently, the company signed a joint venture agreement with MAHAGENCO to develop renewable energy projects. They also bagged NREL secured a 1000 MW solar PPA with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) at a tariff of INR 2.56/kWh

Furthermore, the group has plans to achieve a renewable energy installed capacity of 11 GW by 2026 and 30 GW by 2030. Earlier this year, Avaada group announced its plans to invest USD 5 billion to develop 6 GW renewable energy projects in Gujarat. Avaada Group has also commissioned the largest single-site solar power plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan, with a capacity of 1.25 GW.
