Vestas has secured four new onshore wind orders with a combined capacity of 322MW, according to company announcements. The wind turbine manufacturer disclosed these contract wins as part of its ongoing business operations in the renewable energy sector.

Order Details and Capacity

Vestas has secured a series of significant onshore turbine orders across Europe and the United States, totaling 322 MW of new capacity. In Italy, the manufacturer landed two distinct contracts, including a 42 MW order for the Tricarico project. This deal involves the delivery and installation of seven V162-5.0 MW turbines, supported by a dedicated service agreement to ensure long-term performance.

A second Italian contract focuses on the Alia Sclafani Bagni Valledolmo project, which represents a 55 MW commitment. This installation will utilize a diverse technology mix consisting of four V162-6.0 MW turbines and five V162-6.2 MW turbines. Like the Tricarico deal, this project includes a comprehensive service agreement, and both Italian sites are scheduled to be fully commissioned and operational by 2027.

The company's momentum continues in the United Kingdom with a 90 MW order comprising 20 V136-4.5 MW turbines. Although the specific customer and project details remain confidential at this stage, the agreement is confirmed to include a long-term service contract. This British expansion is also aligned with a 2027 commissioning timeline, highlighting a busy year ahead for the Vestas regional deployment teams.

Rounding out this global activity, Vestas confirmed a substantial 135 MW order for the United States market. While the specific turbine models and project location were not immediately disclosed, the contract involves the supply of onshore machines to bolster American renewable energy capacity. Collectively, these four deals underscore the manufacturer's robust pipeline and the global demand for its high-capacity turbine platforms.

Corporate Restructuring Developments

Vestas is currently implementing organizational changes, including cutting 440 jobs in Denmark. Industry analysts have characterized these layoffs as prudent measures for the company's operations. The workforce reduction represents a significant restructuring effort within the company's Danish operations.

The job cuts come as part of broader operational adjustments at Vestas, affecting the company's domestic workforce in its home market of Denmark. The 440 positions being eliminated represent a substantial portion of the company's Danish employee base.

Offshore Wind Market Position

Vestas has gained a competitive edge in the UK offshore wind market following Ming Yang's rejection from certain projects. This development has strengthened Vestas' position in the offshore wind sector, complementing its onshore wind business activities.

Analysts have noted that Vestas achieved record-breaking order intake for offshore wind projects, which strengthens the foundation for the company's growth prospects. The offshore wind segment represents an important area of expansion for the turbine manufacturer alongside its traditional onshore wind business.

The combination of new onshore orders totaling 322MW, strategic positioning in offshore markets, and ongoing operational restructuring reflects Vestas' current business trajectory in the competitive wind energy industry.
