Austrian power producer Verbund has joined forces with German project developer Visiolar to develop up to 2 GW of solar photovoltaic projects in Germany.
This partnership helps with Verbund's strategy to expand in the field of solar and wind power generation. Verbund aims to have solar PV and onshore wind account for a quarter of its overall power production by 2030.
The partners have identified 13 sites, mostly around Berlin, spanning over 3,459 acres for the development of these solar projects. Verbund estimates that this area would be adequate to install up to 1.4 GWp of solar capacity.
Eventually, 49421 acres of land would be provided by visiolar for this purpose.
