Abu Dhabi has launched a commerce campaign to boost the visibility and brand reputation of the emirate's products.
The Made in Abu Dhabi brand will be attached to all industrial licenses awarded to factories and manufacturing enterprises situated in the emirate, according to the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB), which is part of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED).
The IDB has sent out a circular to all industrial facility owners in the emirate, granting authorization to use the official Made in Abu Dhabi sign.
This guarantees that the brand used on the goods is "appropriate, clear, and noticeable."
The Made in Abu Dhabi campaign, according to Rashid Abdulkarim Al Blooshi, Undersecretary of the Department, aims to encourage industrial facility owners to use the campaign's approved sign on their products.
This would increase the competitiveness of local products and support producers around Abu Dhabi, as well as add value to local products made in Abu Dhabi, he said.
The project seeks to put the Made in Abu Dhabi label on 3,340 local items from 888 factories, totaling AED369.32 billion in investment.
In Abu Dhabi, there are 678 factories, 181 factories in Al Ain, and 29 factories in Al Dhafra.
The initiative, according to the Undersecretary of ADDED, aims to promote the identity of Abu Dhabi's homegrown product, and a dedicated Instagram account has been put up to broadcast awareness messages.
He also stated that the initiative will attract more local investors and promote entrepreneurship in Abu Dhabi.
The long-term goal, according to Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, executive director of IDB, is to improve promotion efforts to promote the emirate's domestic product, which will assist establish its image within the local market before moving on to regional and worldwide markets.
