Uptime Institute, the Global Digital Infrastructure Authority, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indonesia Data Center Provider Organization, known as IDPRO, the official industry association representing data center providers and digital infrastructure companies in Indonesia.

A Formal Partnership in Jakarta

The agreement, signed on November 2, 2026, in Jakarta, is intended to support the development of a reliable, sustainable, and globally competitive data center industry in the country.

The MOU was signed by Mustapha Louni, Chief Business Officer at Uptime Institute, and Hendra Suryakusuma, Chairman of IDPRO. The signing was witnessed by Patrick Chan, Managing Director, South Asia, Uptime Institute, and Michael Abimanyu, Executive Director of IDPRO.

Goals of the Agreement

According to the company, the collaborative agreement between the two organizations has a set of clearly defined objectives. It is designed to promote international standards and best practices in Indonesia across the data center lifecycle, to strengthen infrastructure availability and operational resilience, to advance resource efficiency and sustainability, and to support the development of a skilled industry workforce.

These priorities, the organizations state, will help raise industry standards and reinforce Indonesia's position in the global digital infrastructure landscape. The partnership also provides a platform for both organizations to share industry knowledge and promote practices that enhance data center performance throughout the lifecycle, from design and construction to commissioning and operations.

Combining Global Expertise with Local Engagement

The partnership combines Uptime Institute's global expertise in digital infrastructure performance, resilience, and sustainability with IDPRO's deep engagement across Indonesia's data center ecosystem.

By bringing these two elements together, the agreement is expected to foster greater knowledge exchange, industry collaboration, and adoption of globally recognized best practices.

Uptime Institute has, for over 30 years, established industry-leading benchmarks for data center performance, resilience, sustainability, and efficiency. These benchmarks assure customers that their digital infrastructure will perform consistently with their business requirements. IDPRO, for its part, serves as the official association voice for data center providers and digital infrastructure companies operating in Indonesia.

Executive Perspectives

"Digital infrastructure plays a foundational role in enabling economic growth and innovation," said Mustapha Louni, Chief Business Officer at Uptime Institute. "Our collaboration with IDPRO reflects a shared commitment to advancing international best practices and supporting the continued evolution of Indonesia's data center industry. By combining global expertise with local industry engagement, we hope to contribute insights and experience that help strengthen the sector for the future."

On the Indonesian side, IDPRO Chairman Hendra Suryakusuma emphasized the strategic importance of the sector to national development. "Indonesia's data center sector has a critical role to play in supporting the country's digital ambitions," he said.

"Through this collaboration, we aim to encourage the adoption of international best practices, strengthen workforce capabilities, and advance an industry that is reliable, sustainable, and globally competitive. Collaboration across the ecosystem will be essential to achieving these goals."

Patrick Chan, Managing Director, South Asia Pacific, at Uptime Institute, offered his own assessment of the market. "Indonesia is one of the most dynamic digital infrastructure markets in Asia," Chan said.

"Continued investment in expertise, operational maturity, and industry collaboration will be important to sustaining this momentum. Through our partnership with IDPRO, we look forward to supporting the exchange of knowledge and global best practices that can help accelerate the industry's development."

Operational Excellence and Responsible Resource Management

Beyond its immediate objectives, the MOU reflects what both organizations describe as a shared commitment to ensuring that the sector's growth is underpinned by operational excellence, resilience, and responsible resource management.

The agreement frames workforce development alongside infrastructure and sustainability goals, positioning skills formation as a central component of the industry's maturation.

The Uptime Institute looks forward to working together with IDPRO and industry stakeholders to support the long-term development of Indonesia's data center sector and to help meet the country's evolving digital infrastructure needs.

Context and Outlook

While the memorandum is not a commercial contract, it establishes a formal framework through which the two bodies intend to cooperate. Both parties point to the same underlying logic: that Indonesia's data center industry, described by Uptime Institute's regional leadership as among the most dynamic in Asia, will require sustained investment in expertise, operational maturity, and collaboration to maintain its trajectory.

The commitments set out in the agreement, spanning the full data center lifecycle from design and construction through commissioning and operations, signal an intent to embed international benchmarks within the Indonesian market at every stage of facility delivery and operation.

For IDPRO, the partnership represents an opportunity to channel global best practices to its members; for Uptime Institute, it deepens the organization's engagement with one of Asia's fastest-moving digital infrastructure markets.

Both organizations have indicated that the agreement is intended to serve as a platform for ongoing knowledge exchange and industry collaboration, rather than a one-time announcement, with the shared aim of strengthening the sector for the future.
