The Telangana government has launched plans for a new greenfield expressway connecting Hyderabad and Vijayawada that will reduce travel time to just two hours. State Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced the project during an inspection at Vanasthalipuram Junction, highlighting its role in boosting regional connectivity and economic growth.

LB Nagar-Pedda Amberpet Elevated Corridor Progress

Minister Venkat Reddy also reviewed the LB Nagar–Pedda Amberpet elevated corridor during his inspection. This six-kilometre project carries a cost of INR 650 crore and is designed to decongest busy city stretches and link with the Outer Ring Road. Four vehicle underpasses have been completed as part of this infrastructure development.

Multiple Highway Projects Under Development

Updates were shared on several other road projects currently in progress. The INR 2,300 crore Gauravelli–Valigonda–Bhadrachalam Greenfield Highway has construction underway between Valigonda and Thorrur, with tenders in process for the Thorrur–Bhadrachalam section. Additionally, work has commenced on the INR 375 crore Andole Maisamma–Vijayawada road project.

Safety Improvements and Funding Model

The state has identified seventeen accident black spots that will undergo priority safety improvements. For upcoming road projects, Telangana will adopt the hybrid annuity model (HAM), which blends government and private sector participation to enhance execution efficiency.
