Tata Power Solar, one of India's largest integrated solar companies and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, has bagged an order for a 300 MW solar project worth USD 18.34 million, inclusive of tax, from NHPC.
The award underlines the scale of large-scale renewable procurement underway in India and adds a major contract to the company's already substantial order pipeline.
Project Details: Rajasthan Site Under the CPSU Scheme
The project site is located in Rajasthan and will be developed under the CPSU scheme of IREDA. The project must be completed within an 18-month time period.
According to the company, the project aims to reduce around 6,36,960 carbon emissions and is expected to generate approximately 750 million units annually. Cells and modules made in India would be used in the project installation, aligning the award with domestic manufacturing requirements.

Order Book and Portfolio Scale-Up
Tata Power Solar has positioned itself as a pioneer in implementing and commissioning large-scale solar and renewable projects. With this win, the company's pending order book reaches USD 143.04 million, and its total utility-scale solar project portfolio reaches 9.7 GWp.
Beyond ground-mount utility-scale capacity, the company's portfolio also includes over 1,000 MW of rooftop and distributed generation projects across the country, and it has installed more than 67,000 solar water pumps in India to date.
Company Background
Tata Power Solar, with over 32 years of deep domain expertise, is one of the pioneering solar manufacturers in the world and India's largest specialized EPC player.
Founded in 1989, the company was originally formed as a joint venture between Tata Power and British Petroleum Solar (BP Solar). Headquartered in Bangalore, Tata Power Solar now operates independently as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power.
As one of the largest solar manufacturers in India, the company operates a world-class manufacturing unit in Bangalore with a production capacity of 635 MW of modules and 500 MW of cells.
Its offerings span both urban and rural markets, including rooftop solutions, solar pumps, and power packs, among others. The company states it is committed to enabling solar everywhere and aims to provide energy access to millions of people across the country via its integrated solar solutions.
What the Contract Means
The NHPC order combines several threads in one contract: a sizable 300 MW capacity, a USD 18.34 million value, an 18-month execution window, and the use of domestically manufactured cells and modules.
For Tata Power Solar, the win lifts its pending order book to USD 143.04 million and its utility-scale portfolio to 9.7 GWp. For NHPC, the contract advances project development under the CPSU scheme of IREDA, with the Rajasthan site expected to deliver approximately 750 million units annually once completed.
