Suzlon Group secured a new order to develop a 551.25 MW wind power project for the Aditya Birla Group. Suzlon will install 175 wind turbine generators (WTGs) with a Hybrid Lattice Tubular (HLT) tower and a rated capacity of 3.15 MW each at sites in the Barmer district in Rajasthan and Bhuj district in Gujarat. Furthermore, the power produced will be used for captive usage within the Aditya Birla Group companies.

This order is for the Suzlons larger, rated 3.15 MW, S144-140m turbines from the 3 MW product series. The wind turbines feature the time-tested Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) technology that efficiently integrates wind turbines into the utility network to meet grid requirements.

Suzlon signed an equipment supply agreement for the wind farm project in Rajasthan, including erection and commissioning. Meanwhile, Suzlon will supply, supervise, and commission the wind power project in Gujarat. This project can provide electricity to around 4.54 lakh households and curb 17.92 lakh metric tons of CO2 emissions annually.

JP Chalasani, Chief Executive Officer of Suzlon Group, said, "This order will enable us to further strengthen our presence in Rajasthan and Gujarat while helping the states unlock their true wind energy potential.”

Why was the contract awarded to Suzlon?

The Aditya Birla Group's decision to award Suzlon Group the contract for a massive wind farm project is a strategic move that aligns with both companies' long-term objectives and India's national interests. Several important factors that highlight Suzlon Group's advantages and the advantages for both conglomerates support this choice.

Technological Expertise and Track Record

Suzlon Group has established itself as one of India's leading renewable energy companies, particularly in wind power. The Aditya Birla Group, recognizing Suzlon's innovative solutions and service excellence, sees it as a partner capable of meeting the energy demands of its expansive operations.

Captive Energy Consumption

The Aditya Birla Group has many companies under its umbrella, many of which have significant energy requirements. By investing in a windfarm project with Suzlon, they aim to use the generated power for captive consumption, thereby reducing their reliance on external energy sources and gaining more control over their energy costs and supply.

Commitment to Sustainability

Aditya Birla and Suzlon are strongly committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship. By choosing Suzlon for this project, the Aditya Birla Group furthers its sustainability goals and supports India's renewable energy market.
