STT GDC Will Construct Its Second Data Centre Facility in Malaysia's Johor District

STT GDC (ST Telemedia Global Data Centre) will construct its second data center in Malaysia’s Johor state with an overall IT capacity of 120 MW. The new STT Johor Data Center will cover a total area of 22 Acres. The data center will feature a smart energy management system, advanced AI-enabled cooling optimization, and eco-friendly building materials. The construction of an initial 16 MW phase of the project will start soon. Furthermore, the expected project completion year is 2025.

The new data center will have access to critical telecommunication links. Additionally, the site will be connected to STT Singapore 5, a hyper-scale data center facility located in Tai Seng, Singapore. This will bolster STT GDC’s regional interconnectivity.

Lionel Yeo CEO of STT GDC in Southeast Asia stated that The expansion into Johor is a vital step towards delivering major digital infrastructure services. He also added that the new data center will anticipate future needs such as high-performance computing workloads for AI and visual computing. Earlier this month STT GDC announced the development of its first data center projects in Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya.
