Sinopec Subsidiary Partners with Spanish Firm for a Major Saudi Green Hydrogen Project

Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of SINOPEC Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. (SEG), will form a joint venture with the Spanish company Técnicas Reunidas to provide engineering services for a large-scale green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. The partnership follows a front-end engineering design (FEED) and EPC convertible contract recently awarded by Saudi Arabia's ACWA Power.

Project Specifications and Timeline

The Yanbu project is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2030. Once operational, the facility will produce 400,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually and 2.8 million tonnes of green ammonia per year. The project will utilize wind and solar power as its energy sources for production.

Joint Venture Structure

The collaboration between Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd. and Técnicas Reunidas represents an international partnership for the Saudi Arabian green energy initiative. Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering operates as a wholly owned subsidiary under the broader Sinopec Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. umbrella organization.
