Samsung Electronics and ASML will collaborate to invest USD 760 million to build an advanced semiconductor fabrication plant in South Korea. The plant will utilize next-generation EUV (extreme ultraviolet) equipment. ASML is the world’s only manufacturer of EUV lithography machines, which are used to manufacture the most advanced chips used in mobile phones.

The announcement came during South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol’s four-day visit to the Netherlands. President Yoon Suk Yeol is attempting to create a "semiconductor alliance" between the two nations. During his visit, Yoon stated that semiconductors are “the linchpin of Korea-Netherlands cooperation.” In November of last year, South Korea and the Netherlands signed a strategic partnership agreement to boost semiconductor manufacturing.
