Three companies announced a strategic partnership on October 7, 2025, to develop a pioneering carbon-negative digital infrastructure campus in Casper, Wyoming. Prometheus Hyperscale, Spiritus, and Casper Carbon Capture announced that the project will involve an initial investment of at least USD 500 million and deliver up to 1.5 gigawatts (GW) of IT-ready capacity across multiple phases.

The development is positioned as one of the largest AI-focused infrastructure developments in the Rocky Mountain region, with first IT-ready power targeted for 2026. The project is designed to meet the accelerating demand for AI compute capacity while integrating carbon removal into its core operations.

Three-Pillar Infrastructure Approach

The Casper project operates on three integrated pillars combining data infrastructure, energy systems, and carbon sequestration. Prometheus Hyperscale will design and finance high-density compute halls using proprietary aquifer, non-consumptive water-cooling systems to maximize energy efficiency. Spiritus will build on its work in Wyoming with its new platform, Orchard Power, which will deliver 1.5 GW of on-site firm power fueled by natural gas.

The system integrates point-source and direct air capture (DAC) to drive fast, affordable, carbon-negative operations. Casper Carbon Capture will provide land, rights-of-way, and access to permitted CO2 sequestration wells in Natrona and Converse Counties, ensuring permanent storage of captured emissions.

Prometheus Hyperscale's Expanding Portfolio

The new data center development builds on Prometheus' existing initiatives in Wyoming and Texas. The company operates a flagship project in Evanston, Wyoming, which is scaling toward 1 GW+ IT capacity, with partnerships for low-carbon natural gas, nuclear SMR power, and organic flow battery systems. In Texas, Prometheus has established partnerships with ENGIE North America and Conduit Power to co-locate AI data centers alongside renewable and hybrid power systems across the I-35 corridor.

The Casper project stands as one of the most significant digital infrastructure initiatives in Wyoming's history, with a multi-phase buildout planned to deliver up to 1.5GW of IT load.

Economic and Employment Impact

The development is expected to generate hundreds of construction jobs during the building phase and create dozens of long-term technical positions upon completion. The project will expand the tax base by generating new property, utility, and infrastructure revenues for Natrona and Converse Counties. The initiative will position Wyoming as a national leader in AI infrastructure, power, and carbon removal technologies, reinforcing the state's reputation for energy and carbon leadership.

Executive Statements and Company Backgrounds

Trenton Thornock, Founder and CEO of Prometheus Hyperscale, commented: "We're excited to develop another project in Wyoming. The Casper project and this partnership with Spiritus and Casper Carbon Capture further enable Prometheus' vision of developing the future of digital infrastructure sustainably." Charles Cadieu, CEO and co-founder of Spiritus, stated:

"AI companies can't wait years for power. By partnering with Prometheus, we're delivering firm capacity to meet the urgency the market demands. Orchard Power gives tenants reliable, affordable, carbon negative electricity at hyperscale, when and where it's needed." Jess Foshee, CEO and co-founder of Casper Carbon Capture, commented: "By bringing world-class partners together, we're showing that Wyoming's land, resources, and people can power the future while we keep our commitment to stewardship and community at the center."

Prometheus Hyperscale positions itself as putting energy first in powering the age of intelligence by harnessing cleaner energy and building next-generation, liquid-cooled hyperscale data centers. The company utilizes proprietary geothermal technology, which enables zero water use, setting a new standard for sustainable infrastructure. Spiritus operates as the technology company behind Orchard Power, a platform that delivers fast, affordable, and firm carbon-negative lifecycle net-zero electricity for power-intensive customers.

The system pairs high-efficiency natural gas generation with point-source capture and Spiritus' Carbon Orchard direct air capture, driven by waste heat, to neutralize the residual and upstream emissions of every megawatt-hour. Orchard Power provides competitively priced, dispatchable capacity, deployed behind the meter and supported by rigorous MRV and sequestration for verifiable claims.

The platform is scalable from 10 MW edge sites to multi-gigawatt campuses and is backed by Khosla Ventures, Aramco Ventures, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, and TDK Ventures. Casper Carbon Capture, LLC, operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Live Oak Environmental, LLC, advancing next-generation CO2 management. The company functions as both a Class VI carbon storage company and a Class II operator, combining expertise in subsurface resource management with environmental stewardship.

Financially backed by SG Interests, Casper Carbon Capture develops projects that balance secure carbon management with land stewardship, community trust, and ecological responsibility.
