Milestone for Alberta CCS

The company said the milestone marks an important step for both carbon capture and storage in Alberta and for GLE itself, as the Origins project now moves into construction.

GLE provided engineering services for the Origins CO₂ pipeline and associated facilities connecting existing transportation infrastructure to Enhance Energy's new Origins CO₂ sequestration hub. Construction of Origins is now underway, with the project expected to enter service in early 2027.

Scope of Engineering Work

According to the announcement, GLE's engineering incorporated pipeline hydraulics, process and mechanical design, civil and structural engineering, electrical and instrumentation systems, controls and telecommunications, pipeline integrity, safety systems, and construction requirements.

"This is an important milestone for both CCS in Alberta and GLE, and we are proud to see Enhance's Origins project move into construction," said Stuart MacKenzie, President and CEO of Gas Liquids Engineering.

"GLE has been involved in the development of carbon capture, transportation, and sequestration infrastructure in Alberta for many years, and their project represents another significant step in the growth of that industry. We are pleased to continue our work with Enhance Energy on infrastructure that builds on Alberta's existing carbon capture network."

Carbon Capture Project Intelligence Across Canada Starts Here

With Canada pouring billions into carbon capture, utilization, and storage through tax incentives and federal funding, the projects moving from announcement to construction are multiplying fast. But how do you know which CCUS ventures have real momentum and which are still stuck in the feasibility phase?

Staying ahead in this capital-intensive sector means tracking pipeline development, permitting progress, and contract activity across dozens of competing projects. Fragmented news sources and outdated reports simply cannot give you that level of clarity.

The Global Project Tracking (GPT) platform by Blackridge Research consolidates CCUS project intelligence across Canada into a single, continuously updated database, so you can spot opportunities before your competitors do.
