PETRONAS, via its subsidiary PETRONAS LNG Ltd., has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with CNOOC Gas and Power Singapore Trading & Marketing to supply 1.0 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Strengthening Longstanding Cooperation

The agreement builds on the long-standing working relationship between PETRONAS and CNOOC, expanding LNG cooperation and reinforcing ties in the energy market. This supply deal aligns with China’s “Dual Carbon” strategy, aiming to peak emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, while contributing to national economic growth and cleaner energy use.

PETRONAS emphasized that the agreement deepens its shared commitment to energy security and a lower-carbon future, reflecting its ongoing collaboration and trusted role as an LNG supplier in Asia’s dynamic markets. With the increasing demand for lower-carbon fuels across Asia, PETRONAS will continue to supply LNG from its established portfolio to support customers’ evolving regional energy needs.

Shamsairi M. Ibrahim, Vice President of PETRONAS LNG Marketing and Trading, described the agreement as a major step in elevating the long-standing relationship between PETRONAS and CNOOC. He said it “advances our shared commitment to energy security and a lower-carbon future.” He stressed that beyond the LNG supply itself, the deal reflects the continued development of their long-term partnership and mutual energy transition objectives.
