OX2 Partners with Stargate Hydrogen to Deploy Industrial-Scale Electrolysers in Nordic Region
Stargate Hydrogen, a European deep-tech company pioneering ceramic-based electrolysis technology, and OX2, a leading developer of renewable energy solutions, announced on October 22, 2025, the signing of an agreement to jointly accelerate the commercial deployment of large-scale renewable hydrogen production in the Nordic region. The partnership will focus on delivering a hydrogen project in Åland, Finland, positioning it as a key hub for large-scale green hydrogen production across Northern Europe.
Aurora Electrolyzer Technology and Åland Project
As the first step in the partnership, the companies will deliver a large-scale hydrogen electrolyzer in Åland, powered by Stargate Hydrogen's new 10 MW Aurora electrolyzer system module. The agreement marks the official commercialization of Stargate Hydrogen's industrial-scale electrolyzer platform, reinforcing its foothold in Northern Europe.
“This agreement marks a major step forward in our mission to deliver industrial-scale green hydrogen solutions to Europe. The Åland project will demonstrate both the scalability and cost competitiveness of our new system and also position Åland as a hub of the Nordic hydrogen economy,” said Marko Virkebau, CEO of Stargate Hydrogen.
Once operational, the Åland project will establish one of the largest hydrogen production assets in the Nordics and utilize the latest hydrogen technology, fully developed in Europe. The project aims to position Åland as a strategic energy hub for the Nordics and to support the transformation of local society through the local industry, roadside traffic, and the green corridors concept.
