The Government of Odisha has cleared four new renewable energy projects with a cumulative capacity of 178 megawatts, drawing investments totalling INR 8.69 billion. The approvals were granted earlier this week by the State Energy Department's single window committee, which facilitates swift clearances for large-scale power and energy projects.

Project Details and Company Allocations

Among the approved initiatives, Prozeal Green Energy will set up a 69.5 MW solar park at Biramaharajpur in Subarnapur district. INOX Solar has received clearance for a 49.5 MW solar project in Telkoi, Keonjhar district. Mahanadi Coalfields (MCL), a state-owned miner, has been granted permission to establish a 10 MW solar facility at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda.

Additionally, NLC India Renewables will develop a wind power project in Papadahandi, Nabarangpur district. The wind project represents the sole non-solar initiative among the four approved developments.

Cumulative Investment and Capacity Figures

With these additions, the total renewable energy capacity approved by the committee now stands at 1,844.86 MW. The overall investment attracted by these projects has reached Rs 125.99 billion, the department stated.

The four newly approved projects represent a significant addition to the state's renewable energy pipeline, contributing 178 MW to the existing approved capacity. The projects span multiple districts across Odisha, indicating a geographically distributed approach to renewable energy development.

Administrative Process and Timeline

The approvals were processed through the State Energy Department's single window committee system, designed to expedite clearances for large-scale power and energy projects. The committee granted these approvals during the current week, demonstrating the streamlined administrative approach adopted by the state government for renewable energy initiatives.

The projects encompass both solar and wind technologies, with solar projects accounting for the majority of the approved capacity across three separate locations in different districts of the state.
