OAK Energy and Infrastructure WLL announced the development of a photovoltaic solar power project in Bahrain during the Gateway Gulf 2025 Forum in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The project represents an investment of approximately USD 50 million and is expected to generate more than 150 gigawatt-hours of clean energy annually.
The solar power project will supply renewable energy to four sites, including Al Dana Amphitheatre, Bahrain International Circuit, and Exhibition World Bahrain. The initiative is backed by international partners and the UK Export Finance (UKEF), supporting the Kingdom's transition towards clean energy.
Project Development and Implementation
Gareth Brown, Group CEO of OAK Energy & Infrastructure, stated that the company is proud to introduce diverse solar systems to the Kingdom of Bahrain, combining world-class engineering and long-term energy security to serve key tourism destinations and strategic facilities. Brown indicated that with the final designs approved, the company is now proceeding towards signing and implementation.
The project is being developed under long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), ensuring bankability and delivering flexible, competitively priced clean energy to Bahrain's major facilities. Brown emphasized that the agreements will provide long-term energy security for the facilities being served.
