Oman's Nama Holding has signed a cooperation agreement with China's State Grid International Development for two battery energy storage projects in Duqm and Ibri with a combined capacity of 1 gigawatt, the Omani company said.
The agreement was signed in Beijing in the presence of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on the sidelines of the Oman-China investment forum. Nama said the framework agreement builds on cooperation between the two companies on the projects, which are being implemented in Duqm and Ibri.
Grid Connection and Technical Scope
Both facilities will be connected to Oman's electricity transmission network at a voltage of 400 kilovolts.
Battery storage allows electricity to be stored for use when needed, helping grid operators manage fluctuations in supply from renewable sources such as solar and wind.
