The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the President of Kazakhstan, His Excellency Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, witnessed the signing of a collaboration agreement between Masdar and Samruk-Kazyna on May 13, 2025, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The agreement aims to develop renewable energy projects, including a '24/7' project providing up to 500 MW of baseload renewable energy and battery energy storage projects with up to 2 GW capacity. This partnership is part of Kazakhstan's efforts to achieve its ambitious renewable energy objectives and reduce its carbon footprint.
Background and Significance
The collaboration agreement between Masdar and Samruk-Kazyna marks a significant milestone in the development of renewable energy projects in Kazakhstan. Masdar, the UAE's clean energy leader, will leverage its expertise in renewables and battery storage technology to support Kazakhstan's energy needs.
