The Gorakhpur Link Expressway is scheduled to be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on June 20th, 2025. Initially, it was planned to be inaugurated on 17th June 22025. This expressway represents a significant advancement in road infrastructure for Eastern Uttar Pradesh and is being developed under the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).

Route Alignment and Benefits

The expressway originates near Jaitpur on National Highway 27 in Gorakhpur and connects to the Purvanchal Expressway at Salarpur in Azamgarh. This alignment is expected to improve regional connectivity and reduce congestion on existing routes. The expressway will directly benefit four districts: Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, and Azamgarh, by enhancing inter-district connectivity and easing transportation.

Infrastructure and Construction

The expressway spans 91.35 kilometers and was constructed at a cost of INR 7,283.28 crore. It has been built with world-class specifications to support long-term growth and development. Once operational, the expressway will cut down the travel time between Gorakhpur and Lucknow to just three and a half hours via the Purvanchal Expressway.

In addition to transportation benefits, plans are underway to develop an industrial corridor along the expressway. The corridor is expected to attract investments in sectors such as agriculture, commerce, tourism, and manufacturing, providing a boost to the local economy.
