Edged Energy commences operations of its data center facility in Barcelona, Spain. This colocation facility has a critical load capacity of 16 MW and uses no water for cooling. Additionally, it uses only renewable energy. Construction of the facility was completed in the fall of 2023.

MERLIN Properties and Edged Energy signed agreements with Barcelona Cable Landing Station Exa and Axent for their new state-of-the-art, carbon-neutral data center located in Barcelona, Spain. 

The facility is uniquely designed for energy and water efficiency, with a guaranteed Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.15 and an advanced waterless cooling system built to handle the dense AI-driven loads reshaping the IT industry while conserving Spain’s scarce water resources.

Edged Data Center’s carrier directly connects to the Barcelona Cable Landing Station, providing customers with a high-connectivity bridge between the western Mediterranean and major and emerging markets worldwide.

MERLIN Properties and Edged have established a network of waterless, carbon-neutral data centers throughout the Iberian Peninsula. They have commenced operations at their data centers near Bilbao and Madrid, where construction is complete. In Lisbon, Portugal, construction will commence on a 100 MW data center campus as soon as the license is issued.
