APACT and ASIP Joint Venture to Develop $120 Million Semiconductor Fabrication Plant in Telangana
A joint venture between Hyderabad-based Advanced System Package Technologies (ASIP) and South Korea-based APACT Limited aims to establish a USD 120 million (INR 890 crore) outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) facility in Hyderabad. Pending approval from the India Semiconductor Mission, the facility is anticipated to commence operations by 2025 with a team of 100 professionals.

Situated in an electronics manufacturing cluster near Hyderabad, the semiconductor fabrication facility will offer package design, bumping, assembly, testing, and dropshipping services. The project seeks to diminish India's reliance on imported semiconductors, which is crucial across various industries.

ASIP has also partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, to collaborate on research and development (R&D). Their focus includes developing next-generation packages, qualifying new packaging materials, and nurturing a skilled OSAT industry workforce.
ASIP CEO Venkata Simhadri stated, “Our upcoming hi-tech facility in Hyderabad aligns with our vision to bolster the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing value chain and provide local OSAT/ATMP support."
